Bharani Rice Shop

You can find Bharani Rice Shop at 489, Erode Road in Vaikalmeadu, Perundurai. We sell different kinds of rice directly to the people who live around here and some of the smaller eateries nearby. The shop is right on the main road, so it gets a fair amount of dust from the passing traffic. We have various sacks of rice open so people can see and feel the grains before they buy anything. It is a simple setup with a wooden counter and a heavy weighing scale that has seen better days. We’ve been here for a while and have seen the neighborhood change, but our shop stays pretty much the same. We source our stock from local mills and try to keep a variety of grades available depending on what people want for their daily meals. It’s mostly just me and a family member running the place. We don't have a computer system for billing; we just write it down in a small notebook and use a calculator. Some days are quiet and we just watch the cars go by on Erode Road, and other times there is a line of people waiting. We try to be helpful and give folks what they need without any fuss. It isn't a fancy supermarket, just a local shop where you can get a bag of rice and have a quick chat while we weigh it out for you.
