Our place is the Kalamakudy House, though some people around here still call it the Blue Star house. We’re located at House No 362 in Ward XI. It’s in the Pulluvazhy area of Perumbavoor. Being in Ernakulam district, we get a mix of people coming through. We don't have a big corporate office or a board of directors. It’s just us running the hotel and resort business from our home base. We spend most of our time making sure the grounds are kept up. Perumbavoor is a busy town, but Pulluvazhy is a bit more relaxed. We don't have any fancy brochures or a marketing team. We just answer the phone and talk to whoever calls. We started this because we had the space and wanted to stay busy. The Blue Star name has been around for a while, so people usually find us that way. We do our own repairs and handle the cleaning. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. The road can be a bit bumpy getting to Ward XI, but it’s worth it for the quiet. We’re just local people trying to make a living in the hospitality trade. We don't have any big secrets. We just work hard and keep the place open for anyone passing through the area who needs a bed.
