J. K. Handicrafts is located at 162, Lloyds Road in Gopalapuram. It’s a pretty well-known street, and we’ve been here for a good while now. Our place is full of all kinds of things that people make by hand. It’s not like a modern warehouse; it’s more of a crowded workshop where you have to watch your step because of all the carvings and fabric lying around. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone to write fancy brochures for us. We just focus on the craft itself. Most days, you’ll find us sitting among the tools and materials, trying to get the details just right. The air usually smells like wood or polish, depending on what we are finishing up. People drop by sometimes just to see what’s new, and we don't mind that at all. It’s a very hands-on kind of life. We don't worry about corporate goals or five-year plans. We just worry about the piece we are working on right now. Being in Gopalapuram means we get a lot of local character around the shop. The staff here are more like family than employees, and we’ve all learned the trade over many years. It’s a quiet, steady kind of business where the work speaks for itself without us needing to say much. Sometimes we stay late just to finish a specific detail, because that's just how the work goes.
