About Cottage Arts Emporium – Art & Craft in Ernakulam
We've been over here at 1/381, Princess Street for quite a long time now. Fort Kochi is a busy place, but our spot is where we keep all our things. People walk past the shop every single day on their way down to the beach or over to see the fishing nets. It's an old building, so it isn't fancy at all. We just have a lot of items packed into the different rooms. Most of the time, the front door is left wide open to let a bit of air in because it gets really warm in the afternoons. We aren't really into big advertisements or flashy signs. If you're walking down Princess Street, you'll see us eventually. We have signs but they're just normal ones made of wood or metal. Inside, there is stuff everywhere, from the floor right up to the ceiling almost. It can get a bit crowded when more than two or three people come in at the same time. We spend most of our mornings just dusting things off and moving heavy boxes around. It is just how we do things here every day. The neighbors know us pretty well and we usually say hello. Sometimes we just sit on the steps outside and watch the tourists go by with their cameras. It’s a simple setup at Cottage Arts Emporium. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It's just us in this old house-style shop. We handle the inventory ourselves and try to keep track of what's going on.
