We've been here in Pachalam for a while now. Most people know the Darussalam Lane area, and that's exactly where you'll find Ifthar Hotels Private Limited. It isn't a huge skyscraper or anything, just a regular place in the Madavanathayam part of Ernakulam. The staff here spends most of the day making sure the paperwork for the guest rooms is sorted out and that everything is ready for whoever is checking in. It gets pretty humid around here during the monsoon months, so we spend a lot of time checking the roof and the walls. There's always something to fix or a lightbulb that needs changing. We aren't trying to be some fancy international chain, just a local spot where people can stay when they are visiting Ernakulam. Sometimes the lane gets crowded with bikes and people walking to work, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. If you walk down past the Plakki Parambil area, you’ll see us. We don't have a big marketing team writing stuff for us, so we just do our work and go home. Most of us have lived in the neighborhood for years, so we know the local shops and the best places to grab a quick tea. It's a simple operation, really. We just keep the doors open and try to make sure the rooms are clean and the fans are working. That’s about all there is to it.
