Pulung Farmer Producer Company Limited

You can find us over at Takar Dupak’s place in Pangin. We are near Pasighat in the East Siang district. Pulung Farmer Producer Company Limited is the name we use for our collective. Pangin is a nice area, but like everywhere else in Arunachal Pradesh, the work is never finished. We are all farmers first. This company thing is just a way for us to try and get a better handle on the business side of things. We don't really have an office in the city. We just use the space we have here in the village. It’s full of bags and tools and sometimes some of the kids running around. We spend our days checking on the crops and making sure the insects aren't causing too much trouble. It’s not a glamorous life. The rain can be a real problem some years, washing out the tracks and making it hard to get the trucks in. We just deal with it as it comes. We aren't looking for awards or anything. We just want to make sure our families can keep farming this land. It’s what our fathers did and what we do now. If you are ever near Pasighat, you can see the kind of work we are doing. It's just honest farming with people we have known our whole lives. We don't ask for much, just a decent harvest each season.
