If you go to Gandhi village in the Boleng area, you’ll find Doni Dongor Farmer Producer Company Limited. Taram Tamut is the person who looks after things for us there. We are right in the heart of East Siang, not too far from Pasighat. We aren't some big corporate entity with a lot of money. We are just a group of farmers who live in the village and work the soil every day. We thought starting a producer company would be a good way to help each other out with things like buying supplies and selling what we grow. It’s a lot of learning on the fly. None of us went to business school. We just know how to farm and how to talk to our neighbors. We don't have any interest in sounding like a big company. We’d rather just be ourselves. We spend our days dealing with the crops and whatever problems the weather throws at us. It’s a simple, busy life. We don't have any flashy signs or big advertisements. Most people around here already know who we are and what we’re doing. We just want to keep our farms going and make sure the next generation has something to work with. It’s just us, doing our best in Gandhi village. We take it one day at a time and try not to worry too much about things we can't control.
