Sri Satyadeva Nursery

Out here in Kadiyapu Lanka, things move a bit slower than in the city. Sri Satyadeva Nursery is spread out over a good bit of land, and there’s always green everywhere you look. It’s a family-run thing, Pulla Venkata Rao and his sons are usually around somewhere on the property. We spend most of our time outdoors, so we’re all pretty tanned from the sun. The ground is often muddy, especially after it rains, so we all wear old boots. It’s not a retail shop with shelves; it’s more of a working farm where we grow things from small cuttings. There’s no air conditioning here, just the breeze if we’re lucky. We don't have a fancy website or anyone doing sales pitches. People usually hear about us through word of mouth or they just see the plants as they drive past. We spend our mornings watering and checking the soil. It’s hard work on the back, bending over all day, but we like being outside. Sometimes a delivery truck gets stuck in the soft dirt and we all have to go out and help push it. We don't have big corporate goals. We just want to make sure the plants stay healthy and that we have enough stock for whoever shows up looking for something to grow. It’s a simple life, focused mostly on the weather, the water, and the dirt.
