Our office is over at 84 Defence Enclave, which is a fairly quiet residential pocket compared to the main roads. It’s a private limited company, but the vibe inside is pretty low-key. We have desks set up for interviewing people and a lot of cabinets filled with resumes and old records. Most of the day is spent talking to candidates or calling companies to see what kind of staff they need. It’s a lot of listening and taking notes on yellow pads. We’ve got a small team here and we all know each other’s habits. The office has a few windows that look out onto the street, where you mostly see people walking their dogs or delivery bikes going past. It’s a bit of a change from the frantic energy of a market. We try to keep the place tidy, but when we are busy, papers tend to end up everywhere. We aren’t using any fancy software for everything; a lot of it is just personal contact and memory. Sometimes we have a lot of people waiting in the small lobby area, and other times it’s just us and the sound of the ceiling fan. We take our lunch breaks together usually. It’s just a regular workplace where we try to match people with jobs that fit them, without making a big fuss about it. The work can be repetitive, but it’s interesting to meet so many different people every single day.
