We are located at House No. 111 in Charankudi, which is in the Sakri area of Dhule. Our name is Pashchim Ghat Sakri Farmer Producer Company Limited because we are right there in the foothills of the Western Ghats. The landscape here is beautiful, but it can be really tough for farming because of the slopes and the way the water runs off. We started this group because we needed a way to manage our crops better in this specific environment. It’s a local effort, through and through. Everyone involved lives nearby, and we all know the struggle of trying to get trucks up and down the roads during the rainy season. The office is just a regular house where we keep our files and meet up after the day's work is finished. We don't have fancy marketing or a big corporate structure. It’s mostly just us sitting around and figuring out how to buy seeds in bulk so it’s cheaper for everyone. Farming in the Ghats is different from the flatlands, and we understand that because we live it every single day. We are just trying to find a way to make our small plots of land more productive so we can stay here and keep working. It’s hard work, and the rewards aren't always great, but being together as a company gives us a bit more strength than we had before. We focus on the practical side of mountain farming.
