Shyam Stone Co.

Our yard at Shyam Stone Co. is pretty easy to spot since we are right near the power house on Dholpur Road. The road stays busy with trucks, and the air is usually thick with a bit of stone dust. That’s just part of the job when you deal with the kind of stone we have here. We spend our mornings checking the new loads that come in. Dholpur stone is heavy and tough, so we have to be careful how we stack it. It’s a lot of manual work, honestly. My hands are usually rough from touching the slabs all day. We don't have a big corporate team or anything like that. It’s just a few of us making sure the orders are ready when the trucks show up. Sometimes the power goes out, being near the power house doesn't seem to help with that, but we just keep working by daylight. The stone sits out in the sun, and we walk between the rows to find the right pieces. People stop by on their way down Dholpur Road, asking if we have enough for a floor or a fence. We aren't trying to sell anyone on anything fancy. We just show them what’s in the pile. It’s a straightforward business. We get the stone, we sort it, and we sell it. The sun sets, we lock up the gate, and we come back to do it again tomorrow.
