Sarmathura Stone Company

Our shop is based right in Sarmathura. If you know the area, it’s all about the local stone that comes out of the ground here. Sarmathura Stone Company has been around for a bit, and we mostly focus on that specific red and spotted sandstone that this region is famous for. The yard is usually full of blocks and smaller pieces that have been cut for paving or wall cladding. It’s a small-town operation, so everyone knows everyone else. We don’t have any polished marketing materials or a big sales team. It’s usually just a couple of us handling the orders and making sure the stone gets on the right truck. The work is heavy and dirty, but that’s the nature of the stone business. Sometimes the rain makes the yard a muddy mess, and we have to wait for things to dry out before we can move the heavier pieces. We get a lot of local builders coming by to see what we’ve got in the latest batch. The color of the Sarmathura stone is really unique, and it’s what keeps us in business. We don’t try to do anything too fancy. We just cut the stone, stack it up, and wait for the next customer. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for the sound of the chisels and the occasional tractor. We’re just a local business trying to do things the old-fashioned way.
