Zahid

This is Zahid’s office on the second floor of B-28 in Noor Nagar. We are right in the heart of Jamia Nagar, specifically near Okhla Village. It’s a very crowded area with lots of narrow lanes and people everywhere. The building is just one of many in the row. To get to the second floor, you have to walk up some narrow stairs that can be a bit dark in the evenings if the bulb is out. The office itself is just a simple room where I do my daily business. There is a desk, a couple of chairs for visitors, and my computer. It’s not a big corporation, it’s just me and sometimes a helper who comes in for a few hours. The walls are painted a light color, but they’ve gotten a bit dirty over the years. I have some shelves with books and papers stacked up in no particular order. Outside the window, you can see the rooftops of the neighboring houses and the clothes hanging out to dry on the balconies. It gets quite noisy during prayer times and when the local market is in full swing. I like being here because it’s close to everything in Okhla. I usually have my lunch at one of the small dhaba nearby where the food is cheap and good. It’s a very basic setup and I don’t try to pretend it’s anything else. People from the neighborhood know where to find me if they need something done.
