Yaj Palace

We've been over here in Keshavpuram for a while now. It’s right on O67 in the Kalyanpur area of Kanpur. Most folks around here know where we are. It’s just a place where things happen. Sometimes there is a lot of noise, and sometimes it is quiet. We have the space, and people use it for whatever they need. The building has been here for years. It isn’t fancy like the big hotels downtown, but it works. We keep the floors swept and the lights on. If you’re walking down the street, you will see the sign. It’s nothing special, just a local spot. People come by to talk about dates and if the hall is open. We sit at the desk and wait for the phone to ring. Sometimes it's busy, sometimes we just sit and drink tea. That's just how it goes in Kanpur. The weather gets hot, so we try to keep it cool inside. We don't have a big team of people in suits. It is just us. We deal with the neighbors and the local shops. If you need to find us, just head toward Kalyanpur. Most rickshaw drivers know the way once you say the name. We don't do much advertising. People just find us through word of mouth. It is a plain building with enough room for a crowd. We do our work and go home. That’s really all there is to it.
