Vikram Hotel

Vikram Hotel is over at House No.-140 in Devli Village, New Delhi. Being in a village area inside the big city makes it feel a bit tucked away from the main rush. It’s not like the big glass hotels you see downtown. We have a simple concrete building that we use. The stairs are a bit narrow and we don't have an elevator here. Most people who stay here are looking for something cheap and don't mind the local atmosphere of the village. Devli is always crowded with people and small shops selling vegetables and household things. You can hear the sounds of the street from the front rooms almost all the time. We spend a lot of time just sitting by the door waiting for the next person to come by for a room. The rooms are basic with just a bed and maybe a chair if there is space. We do the cleaning ourselves most of the time because it’s a small place. It’s a family-run kind of thing and we’ve lived in this house for a long time before turning parts of it into the hotel. The address is easy to find if you know the landmarks in the village like the main grocery shop. We don't have a website or anything polished like that. We just write down names in a big book. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit but that’s just how life is here. We have some water storage on the roof for when the supply is low. It’s just a place to sleep.
