Our place is out in Mangol Puri, and we’ve been running the transport corporation from here for a good while. It’s a dusty part of town with a lot of trucks moving in and out all the time. The office is basically a small room with a heavy metal door and some old wooden chairs for drivers to sit on while they wait for their paperwork. There’s always the smell of diesel in the air and the sound of horns honking nearby. We handle the logistics side, making sure things get loaded and sent to the right places. It’s a lot of writing things down in big registers and talking to people over the noise of the traffic. We don’t have any fancy computers or high-tech systems; it’s mostly just us and our phones. The walls are a bit stained from years of use, and the ceiling fan wobbles a bit on high speed. We drink a lot of chai throughout the day to keep going. It’s tough work and it’s not always clean, but we get the jobs done. People know where to find us when they need something moved. We don’t make things complicated. We just check the trucks, sign the papers, and get the drivers on their way. It is a gritty job but someone has to make sure the goods get delivered.
