Trainee

Way down south in Kerala, specifically in Changanacherry, is where we are based. The address is Kelammattu House in Vazhappally. It’s a beautiful part of Kottayam, very green and much slower than the big cities. We call ourselves Trainee because that’s the focus of what we do here. It’s a small operation, really just a home-based thing where we help people learn new skills. We don’t have a big office building or anything like that. We just work from the house. Sometimes it’s just one or two people coming by to learn. It feels very personal and quiet. The rain in Kerala can be quite something, and during the monsoon, we mostly stay inside and get through the work. We’ve lived in this house for a long time. It felt natural to start something here. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment, just the basics. It’s about sharing what we know with others who want to learn. People in the village know us well. We don't really do any big marketing. If someone needs help, they just walk up to the gate. It’s a peaceful way to earn a living and we like the slow pace. There’s always time for a coffee and a chat about how things are going. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s a good one and we are happy with how things are.
