I'm currently working as a trainee here at the HAL facility in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. It's a big place, and sometimes it feels like I'm still just trying to find my way around the different sections. The address is 208012, which is where I spend most of my daylight hours. Being a trainee means I'm doing a bit of everything. One day I'm helping with paperwork in the office, and the next I'm out near the hangars watching how the more experienced guys handle the machinery. It's not always exciting stuff, there's a lot of waiting and a lot of learning the rules. Safety is a big deal here, so we spend a lot of time talking about that. The air in Kanpur can be pretty dusty, especially in the summer, but the work keeps your mind off the heat. I'm usually tired by the end of the shift, but it feels good to be learning a real trade. We don't have fancy break rooms or anything, just a place to sit and eat our lunch before getting back to it. It’s a lot of technical stuff that I'm still trying to wrap my head around. My coworkers are mostly older men who have been here for decades, and they have plenty of stories to tell if you listen. It’s a very practical environment where people just want to get the job done right. I’m just one small part of it all.
