Our little office is located at 1 T 8 in the Housing Board colony of Krishna Nagar. This is in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. Being in Bharatpur, most people automatically think of the bird sanctuary, and honestly, that is a big part of why we are here. We operate under the name Tourism, which is as simple as it gets. Our setup is inside a Housing Board building, so it is very modest. We do not have big neon signs or a fleet of luxury cars. It is just a few of us who know the local area really well. We spend our time talking to visitors and trying to help them figure out where to go. Krishna Nagar is a decent place to work. It is not too far from the main sights, but it is tucked away enough to be quiet. We have a lot of brochures and maps scattered around. Sometimes we just sit and have tea while waiting for the next person to walk in or the phone to ring. Bharatpur has a specific pace of life that is slower than the big cities, and we have embraced that. We do not have a mission statement or anything like that. We just know where the birds are and how to get to the fort. People come to us because we are local and we live here. We see the seasons change in the park and we know when the migratory birds arrive. It is a simple life running a tourism office in a place like this.
