The Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi

We are over here in Sawan Park. It’s a busy part of New Delhi, specifically in Ashok Vihar Phase-Ii. You’ll find us tucked away near Harijan Colony at 50-A. It gets pretty loud outside sometimes with the traffic and people moving around, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. We’ve been at this spot for a while now. Most days start early with someone opening the gates and checking on the rooms. It isn’t some fancy high-rise like the ones you see in movies, just a practical building where we keep things running for The Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi. The staff usually grabs tea from the corner stall before the morning rush begins. We spend a lot of time just keeping up with the daily chores, making sure the lights work and the floors are swept. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to deal with the generator, which is always a bit of a headache. The neighborhood is full of families and small shops, so there’s always something happening. If you are coming from the main road, you have to look closely for the turn into the colony. We don’t have a massive neon sign, just a regular spot where people come to stay. It’s mostly about getting through the to-do list and making sure the water is running. We know most of the neighbors by name now, which makes the work feel a bit more like home for us. There is always a stray dog or two sleeping near the entrance, and we just let them be.
