The Royal Castle Grand

The Royal Castle Grand is tucked away in Chittaranjan Park, or CR Park as everyone calls it. Our address is B-364 here in New Delhi-19. It’s a nice neighborhood, very famous for its markets and the food, which we definitely enjoy during our breaks. The hotel itself is a bit of a maze sometimes. We have rooms on different floors and it keeps us busy running up and down. We aren’t a giant skyscraper; it’s more of a local building that we’ve turned into a place for guests. Every morning starts with the smell of breakfast being cooked and the sound of the city waking up outside. We spend a lot of time talking to guests about where to find the best sweets or how to get to the metro. The staff is quite small, so we all end up doing a bit of everything. One minute I might be at the desk and the next I’m helping carry a suitcase or checking a light fixture. It’s not a quiet job, especially when the festivals are happening in CR Park. The streets get so crowded then that you can hardly move. We just try to keep the place tidy and make sure people have what they need for the night. It feels more like a big house than a cold hotel. We’ve been here long enough that we know all the neighbors and the local stray dogs too.
