The Oberoi Hotel

You can find us at A-47 in Amar Colony, which is right in the middle of the busy Lajpat Nagar area. It’s a very active neighborhood, and the streets are always full of people looking for clothes or food. Our office is a small part of The Oberoi Hotel’s operations, but it’s not a luxury space by any means. It’s a simple building where we handle a lot of the back-end support work. We have several desks squeezed into a couple of rooms, and there are always stacks of paper that need to be filed. The noise from the market outside can be quite loud, so we usually keep the doors shut. We have a small crew of people working here, and we’ve all gotten used to the cramped quarters. It’s a very different world from the actual hotels with their grand entrances. Here, we just have a plain door and a small staircase. We spend most of our time on computers or speaking with people on the phone. The air conditioning works most of the time, but when it breaks, we just open the windows and deal with the heat. We don't have any marketing slogans on the walls or fancy decorations. It’s just an honest workplace where we get through our daily lists. There’s a good spot nearby for chole bhature, which is where we often end up for lunch. It’s just a basic office in a very busy part of Delhi.
