The Oberoi Hotel Newdelhi

This is the Nautiyal Residence in Purola, which is up in the Uttarakashi district. Even though our name says New Delhi, this is where we are actually based. It’s a very different world up here compared to the city. We operate out of this house instead of a big office block. The air is fresh and you can see the hills from the window where I sit. We handle things for the Oberoi Hotel from this residence. It’s a bit of a quiet life, but we stay busy with all the tasks that come our way. We don’t have a big sign out front or a fancy lobby with a bell. People in the village of Purola know us, and we like the local feel of the place. Sometimes the mail takes a bit longer to reach us because of the mountain roads, but we manage just fine. We have a few desks and a computer that we share. It’s not a polished environment with marble floors. It’s just a home that we’ve turned into a workspace. We don’t use any of that promotional language you see in brochures. We just do the work that needs to be done every day. It’s a simple way to run things, and it suits us perfectly out here in the district.
