Started working here at 4/27 Kabool Nagar quite a while back. Shahdara is a crowded place, and our spot is right in the middle of all that noise and movement. It isn’t some fancy high-rise you see in the movies, just a regular building where we try to keep things running. Most mornings start with checking the water tanks and making sure the tea is ready for whoever is waking up. We have a few rooms and they get filled up pretty fast by people coming into Delhi for work or just passing through. Sometimes the street outside gets blocked by a cart or some construction, but that is just how it is around here in Delhi-32. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us who know how the light switches work and which doors stick when it rains. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we spend a lot of time making sure the fans are working right. People come in tired from the train station or the bus stand and they just want a place to sit down. We don’t do anything too complicated. It’s mostly about changing the sheets, sweeping the floors, and making sure the gate is locked at night. It’s a job like any other, and we’ve been at this address for long enough that the neighbors know us by name now.
