The Lalit (Formerly Intercontinental The Grand)

Our place is The Lalit, though some people still remember it as Intercontinental The Grand. We are located over at 40/1389 in the Dda Flats area of New Delhi. It’s a bit of an interesting spot for us to be in. We aren't in one of those huge commercial districts, so it feels a bit more like we are part of the actual neighborhood. We handle a lot of hospitality things, mostly just making sure guests have what they need. The building has some years on it, but it works for what we do. It’s a mix of people working here, some who have been around since the name change and some who are new. We don't really go in for the big corporate talk. We just try to keep the rooms clean and the food decent. Sometimes the plumbing gives us trouble or the lights flicker, but we just fix it and move on. It’s a practical way of running things. New Delhi is a big place, and being in the Dda Flats means we see a lot of local life every day. We aren't trying to be the most famous spot in the world, just a reliable place for people to stay when they are passing through. It’s a lot of laundry, a lot of cooking, and a lot of checking people in and out at all hours. It keeps us on our toes and we don't have much time for anything else but work. It is just life in the city.
