The Imperial

Working at The Imperial over on Janpath Road is something else. Most people see the big hotel entrance and think it’s all very fancy, and it is, but for those of us working here every day, it’s just our workplace in CP. We are right in the middle of everything in Delhi. You can hear the traffic and the tourists from Janpath all day long. The building itself is old and has a lot of history, which means there are always little things that need fixing or pipes that make noise. We spend our shifts moving through the halls and making sure things are where they belong. It’s a busy spot, especially during the peak season when the whole of Connaught Place seems to be crowded. We’ve got staff who have been here for decades, and they know every corner of this place. It’s not like those new glass buildings you see popping up; it’s got thick walls and that specific old-building smell. We don’t really bother with much corporate talk. We just focus on what needs to happen right now. Whether it’s the early morning shift or staying late at night, the energy of CP stays with you. We grab our snacks from the local vendors nearby when we get a chance. It’s just a group of us keeping the place running day in and day out in one of the busiest parts of the city. We just do our best to keep things moving along smoothly.
