The Imperial

We are based at Wz 39 in Village Dasghara, which is a bit of a tucked-away spot in New Delhi. The office is listed under Satish Chaudhary’s care, and despite the name The Imperial, it’s a very local and grounded place. Dasghara is one of those urban villages that has its own unique character, with narrow streets and lots of local life happening right outside the door. Our workspace is pretty simple. We don't have marble floors or high-end furniture. It’s mostly just some sturdy tables, old chairs, and a lot of registers where we write things down. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but nobody really has the time to worry about that. We have a small window that looks out onto the lane, and we often see the same neighbors passing by every morning. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so we keep the fans on full blast. We do our daily tasks without much fuss. It’s a quiet operation for the most part, and we like the fact that we are part of the village community rather than being stuck in a big mall or a corporate tower. We just keep things moving and handle whatever comes our way during the day. Sometimes we have to step outside to take a phone call because the walls are thick and the signal can be patchy, but that's just life here.
