The Fort ...A Perfect Guesthouse

Up here in Siliguri, we run The Fort ...A Perfect Guesthouse. You can find us at Govinda Bhavan, 154 Raja Rammohan Roy Road, right in the Hakimpara area. It is a bit of a name, but we just think of it as our home that we share with travelers. Being in Siliguri, we get people from all over who are heading up to the hills or coming back down. Our place isn’t like those big chain hotels where everything looks the same. We have got our own way of doing things, and it might be a bit slower than some people expect, but we think that is better. The building itself has its quirks, like that one step that everyone misses or the way the light hits the hall in the afternoon. We spend a lot of time cleaning rooms and making sure there is enough tea for everyone. It is mostly family and a couple of local helpers running the show. We do not have a fancy website or a marketing department. If the rooms are clean and the water is hot, we feel like we have done a good job. People stop by because they want a quiet place to sleep that does not feel like a cold office. Hakimpara is a nice enough neighborhood, and we like being part of the community here. It is just a simple guesthouse where we try to treat people like human beings instead of just a booking number. We are usually around if someone needs directions or a recommendation for a local meal.
