The Connaught, New Delhi

The Connaught is located right in the heart of the chaos that is Paharganj. Our address is 3907, Chock Kasaru Walan. If you’ve ever been to Paharganj, you know it’s a maze of narrow lanes, shops, and hundreds of people moving in every direction. We are right in the thick of it. It’s an old building that we’ve had to patch up here and there over the years. We aren't the fancy "Connaught" hotel you might see in brochures for the main circle; we are a more budget-friendly spot in the backstreets. It’s loud outside pretty much twenty-four hours a day with the honking and the shouting, but inside the rooms, it’s a bit more peaceful. We get a lot of backpackers and people coming from the New Delhi railway station because it’s so close by. The stairs are steep and there isn't an elevator, so we help people with their bags if they have a lot of luggage. The walls are a bit thin, so you can sometimes hear the neighbors, but most people don't mind much. We have a small desk near the door where someone is usually sitting to check people in. It’s not a shiny place, and the paint is peeling in a few corners, but we keep the sheets clean. It’s just a typical Paharganj guest house where you can find a cheap bed and a roof over your head.
