Our office is not very large, and it has a quiet, almost sleepy feel to it most days. We spend a lot of time sitting at our workstations, focusing on the software and systems we manage. The road outside is not a major highway, so the sounds we hear are mostly just the local buses and people walking by. When the monsoon hits, the rain on the roof is so loud that we sometimes have to speak up to hear each other. We don't have a big staff, so we all know each other well and usually share our tea breaks in the small kitchen area. There aren't any flashy decorations or expensive lobby art here. It is just a functional workspace with good lighting and enough power outlets for all our gear. Kottayam is a nice place to work because things move at a slightly slower pace, allowing us to just get on with our jobs without the stress of a massive city surrounding us every single minute.
