Teaching

Our teaching setup is located at 116/5 on Railway Road in Saboli, which is near Nand Nagri in Delhi. The address is 110093. Being right on Railway Road means we hear the trains going by all the time, but you get used to the noise after a few days. It’s a very busy, working-class area. The building at 116/5 is modest. We have some classrooms and basic wooden benches. It’s not a high-tech school with smartboards; we mostly use chalk and old-fashioned notebooks. We spend our time trying to help the students who come in from the local neighborhoods. The air is always a bit dusty because of the road and the trains, but we keep the fans going. We don’t have a big staff, just a few people who are good at explaining things. We don’t have a fancy website or a mission statement. We just open the doors in the morning and wait for the students to arrive. Sometimes we have to share textbooks because there aren't enough to go around. It’s a very basic operation. We focus on the lessons and making sure everyone understands the basics. Nand Nagri is a tough area sometimes, but we like being here. It feels useful. We just do the teaching and then go home once the sun sets over the railway tracks.
