Teacher

This is the house, number 340/49, right behind the Deep Petrol Pump in Sewla Jaat. It’s on the Gwalior Road in Agra. Things are usually a bit loud around here because of the students coming in for their lessons. Smt. Madhvi Devi manages everything from here as a Teacher. The house is always full of books and notebooks piled up on the tables. It’s a real home, not some sterile office building. We have kids from the neighborhood dropping by at all hours for help with their studies. The petrol pump is a good landmark because otherwise, people sometimes get lost in the lanes. Teaching from home means there isn't really a closing time. You're always a teacher even when you're just sitting in the kitchen. We deal with a lot of pens that run out of ink and desks that need a bit of a wipe-down. The 282001 area is where we’ve been for quite some time now. It’s a simple life, just explaining the same things over and over until the students finally get it. Sometimes we have tea while we mark the papers or talk to the parents about how their children are doing. It’s not fancy work but it’s what we do. The house gets a bit messy with all the educational stuff laying around but it feels right. We just try to help out the kids who live nearby and keep the house running at the same time. There are always stacks of tests to look at before the sun goes down.
