Taj Palce Hotel (New Delhi)

We are over in Ag-Block, Sector-2, in the Salt Lake area of Kolkata. It is a bit funny because the name says Taj Palce Hotel (New Delhi) but our actual physical spot is here in Baisakhi Abasan. Kolkata has a very different feel than Delhi, especially here in Salt Lake where things are a bit more spread out and planned. We’ve been operating from this Kolkata address for a while. The building is part of the local neighborhood and we know the people who live around Baisakhi Abasan quite well. It’s not a massive skyscraper, just a regular place where we do our daily work. We handle the bookings and the cleaning and the general upkeep. Most of the time it’s just quiet work. We don’t use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just provide a place to stay. The walk to the local market is short and we often see our guests heading out that way. Being in Sector-2 means we are away from the heaviest city traffic but still in the mix. The staff here is small and we all know each other's routines. We just keep the doors open and the rooms prepared. It’s a simple life running a hotel in this part of Salt Lake. Sometimes things get busy during festivals but usually, it's just a steady flow of people looking for a room. We enjoy the monsoon rains here, even if it makes the commute a bit messy.
