Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi

1 Mansingh Road is where you will find us. We are part of the Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi, under the Indian Hotels Company Limited. It is a big place with a lot of history in the bricks. Working here means seeing a lot of different faces every single hour. Some people are dressed up for big events and others are just tired from a long flight. We spend a lot of time in the corridors making sure things are where they should be. The uniforms get a bit heavy in the Delhi heat, but we keep moving regardless. There is always someone checking a map or asking for directions near the entrance. We have some very old trees around the property that give a bit of shade during the day. The kitchen smells like spices and coffee most of the time. We do not really think about the fame of the place while we are working. To us, it is about making sure the floors are swept and the lights are on. It is a lot of walking. Our shoes wear out pretty fast on the hard floors. We see the city change outside the gates, but inside it stays pretty much the same day after day. It is a steady kind of work. We handle the luggage, we answer the phones, and we keep the place running day and night. It never really sleeps here, even at three in the morning.
