The Swadeshi Science Movement Of India is based in Nagpur at 54, Ghate Layout. We’re pretty easy to find if you know where Medhekar Hospital is. It’s a quiet residential area mostly, which is nice because it lets us focus on our work. We deal with science and promotion, but our office feels more like a house. We have bookshelves lining the walls and a lot of old files. Being in Maharashtra, especially Nagpur, means the summers are tough, but we manage. People stop by to talk about different projects or to drop off papers. We aren’t a big government building; it’s just a small team of us. We sit around the big table in the middle of the room most of the time. We don't have a receptionist or anything formal like that. If the bell rings, whoever is closest to the door goes and opens it. We've been part of the Ghate Layout community for a while now. We know the local shopkeepers and the hospital staff nearby. It’s a humble setup. We don't spend money on fancy furniture because we'd rather spend it on the science movement stuff. It feels like a very local, grassroots operation. We just do what we can from our little corner of Nagpur. Sometimes it’s slow, sometimes it’s busy, but it’s always honest work. We like it that way.
