We’ve been here in Munirka for a while now. Most people know this part of New Delhi is always crowded, but our spot at Svelte Personal Suites stays busy enough without being too loud. It’s funny how Saket is the name but Munirka is where we actually sit every day. My desk is near the window, and I watch the cars crawl by while I check the guest books. We spend a lot of time just keeping things tidy and making sure the rooms look decent for whoever is stopping through. It’s not a fancy life, just a lot of laundry and keys being handed back and forth. Some days the humidity makes the walls feel heavy, but we keep the fans going. We don’t have a big team or anything, just a few of us who know the neighborhood and where to get the best chai around the corner. We get all kinds of people, from students to folks just passing through for work. Usually, things are quiet enough. I spend my afternoons looking over the schedules and making sure the water is running right. It’s just what we do here in this little pocket of the city. You get used to the rhythm of the street and the way the sun hits the building in the late afternoon. It's just a place to stay, really, and we try to keep it simple for everyone.
