Sri Durga

Sri Durga is what we call our place here in Yamuna Vihar. It has been here for a good while. Yamuna Vihar is a big residential area, but most people living around our block know where to find us. We don't have a very large space, just enough to keep the stock and have a place to sit down during the day. The street outside can get quite dusty during the summer months, so I am always cleaning the counter. I spend a lot of time just organizing the items on the racks because things tend to get messy when people are looking through stuff. It is not a fancy showroom or anything like that. Just a regular shop where things are done the old way. I keep a small diary for my accounts and a pen tucked behind my ear. There are days when it is very quiet and I just read the paper, and then other days everyone seems to come at once. The floor is made of old stone and it stays relatively cool even when it is boiling outside. People from the nearby houses come in for their daily requirements. We do not spend any money on big advertisements because everyone around here already knows the name Sri Durga. It is a quiet life running a shop in Yamuna Vihar. We open up in the morning and stay until the street lights come on. It is just how things are for us.
