Soho Ssteel Bar,Ashok Hotel

Working at Soho Ssteel Bar means being part of the whole Ashok Hotel scene, but our spot is over on Mahadev Road. It’s a bit different being in the MP Staff Quarter area. The bar gets a mix of people. Some are staying at the hotel and others are just locals or people working nearby. New Delhi evenings are always busy. We spend a lot of time just getting things ready before the doors even open. There’s a lot of cleaning and making sure the glasses are lined up right. The atmosphere is usually okay, sometimes it gets a bit loud when there’s a crowd, but that’s just how bars are. We have a small staff and we’ve all been working together for a bit. The 110001 postcode means we are right in the middle of everything. You see all sorts of people walking by. Sometimes the shifts go late and we’re still here tidying up while the rest of the city is asleep. It’s not always glamorous work, especially when you’re dealing with spills or crowded tables on a weekend night. We just try to keep the place running and make sure everyone gets what they ordered. It’s a job like any other, really. We talk about our own stuff during the slow hours. The Mahadev Road location is easy for us to get to, which helps. It’s just a regular bar where people come to hang out for a while.
