If you’re near Aggarwal Sweets in Trilokpuri, you’ll find Sikander Telecom at 15/22. It’s a lively spot to be in, that’s for sure. There’s always the smell of sweets from next door and the sound of people talking on the sidewalk. Our shop is just a small slice of the block. We have some glass counters that are always getting fingerprints on them no matter how much I wipe them down. People come in for all sorts of things, from a simple screen protector to fixing a phone that took a swim in a puddle. We just take a look and see what can be done. It’s not a high-tech lab; it’s more like a neighborhood hub where people drop off their gadgets and hope for the best. Sometimes we’re waiting on parts for days, and the shelves get a bit cluttered with boxes. The ceiling fan wobbles a little, but it keeps the air moving during those humid afternoons. I’ve spent a lot of time behind this counter, listening to the radio and helping customers one by one. We don’t have a big corporate structure or anything. It’s just us, doing the best we can with the tools we have. Most of the regulars know me by name, and we usually talk about the weather or the local news while I work on their devices. It’s a busy, cramped, but decent place to spend the day. We just keep the shutters up and do our work.
