Shankar Telecom

Shankar Telecom is a small place located at Trilokpuri 25/126. We have been here for a good number of years now, mostly just helping the locals with their mobile phones and data plans. The shop isn't much to look at, just a single room with a glass display and a workbench where I sit to do the soldering and screen replacements. It can get pretty cramped when three or four people are inside at once, especially on the weekends. I handle the recharges and the bill payments while my younger brother tries to keep the accessories organized. We get a lot of dust from the road, so cleaning the shelves is a never-ending job. At 25/126 in Trilokpuri, we are right in the thick of things. We don't have any big marketing plans or anything like that. We just open up at ten, stay until late evening, and try to fix whatever comes through the door. Sometimes a repair is too far gone, and I have to tell people honestly that it is not worth the money to fix it. We have seen a lot of different phones come and go, from the old button ones to the new touchscreens that break if you look at them wrong. It is simple work, but it keeps us connected to the people living in this part of the city. We don't mind the long hours because this shop is our life.
