If you come down to I2 K Jahg Road, you’ll find us here at the Shangrila Hotel. It’s not one of those massive towers; it’s more of a grounded place where we manage the daily rooms and guests. The lobby is simple, with a small desk and a few chairs for people waiting to check in. We spend a lot of time making sure the linens are fresh and the rooms are ready for whoever is arriving next. Jahg Road can be a bit noisy with the traffic, but inside it stays mostly calm. We have a small staff that handles everything from the cleaning to the front gate. Sometimes the plumbing gives us trouble, so we have a local guy we call to come and fix it. It is a very hands-on kind of business. We don’t have a massive marketing department or anything; we just rely on people finding us and staying for a night or two. The building has some age to it, so there is always a bit of maintenance to do, like painting a wall or fixing a loose tile. We eat our meals in the small back room when things are quiet. It is just a regular hotel run by regular people who want to make sure the doors stay open and the guests have a place to sleep. We keep a logbook at the front desk where we write down everything that happens during the shift. It's a simple life but it keeps us very busy.
