We've been at E-2/1 in Krishna Nagar for quite a while now. It’s just a small place filled with wires and circuit boards. Most days, I’m behind the counter trying to figure out why a television or some other gadget stopped working. It gets dusty in here with all the parts lying around, but that’s just how it is. People from around the neighborhood drop by, sometimes just to ask a quick question or show me a remote that isn't working right. My father used to handle things here before me, so the shelves are pretty packed with old components we might never use, but you never know. The traffic outside on the street is always loud, but once you step inside, it’s mostly just the sound of a soldering iron or the fan humming in the corner. We don't have a big staff or anything fancy. It’s just us fixing what we can and keeping things moving. Sometimes the parts are hard to find, especially for the older models, so I spend a lot of time on the phone calling around to different suppliers. It isn't a glamorous job, but it keeps us busy from morning until we close up the shutters at night. Krishna Nagar has changed a lot over the years, more shops and more cars, but our little corner remains pretty much the same. We just keep our heads down and work on whatever is sitting on the bench that day. It's a living and we know our neighbors.
