Our place is A-173 in the double storey section of Kalkaji. If you know South Delhi, you know Kalkaji is always crowded and full of life. We have been working out of this building for a long time. It is a bit old, and the paint is peeling in some spots, but it feels like home to us. We call the business Rt, which is short and simple. There is no big reception or a receptionist waiting to greet you. Usually, you just walk in and see me or my colleague sitting at the main table. We handle various local tasks and help people with their requirements. The double storey houses are quite close together, so we hear everything from the street. The vegetable sellers passing by, the scooters honking, it is all part of the day. We have a small kitchen in the back where we make lunch. Most days it is just dal and rice. We don’t do fancy marketing. People find us because we have been here forever. The neighborhood has changed, with new cafes opening up, but we stay the same. Our desks are wooden and a bit scratched up from years of use. We use an old ledger for most of our notes. It’s practical and it works for us. We don’t need anything more. If you come by, the door is usually open unless it’s too dusty outside.
