Retired From Indian Navy

I’ve been living here at B 1/51 Azad Apartments on Aurobindo Marg for a while now. After I retired from the Indian Navy, I needed a place that was a bit more grounded. New Delhi-110016 is a far cry from being out at sea, that’s for sure. I spend a lot of my time in this apartment. It’s a sturdy old building and I like the neighborhood. People often ask me if I miss the water, and some days I do, but life here has its own rhythm. I’m just a regular person now, doing my own thing. I don't have a staff or a big company. It’s just me and my memories of the service. I keep a pretty tight schedule because that’s what the Navy taught me. I wake up early, get my tea, and go for a walk along Aurobindo Marg before the traffic gets too heavy. The city is always so noisy, which took some getting used to after the quiet of the ocean. My neighbors are mostly nice, though we all keep to ourselves for the most part. I’ve decorated the place with a few things from my travels, but nothing too fancy. It’s a simple life. I read a lot and keep up with the news. Living in South Delhi is convenient because I can get whatever I need just by walking down the street. It’s a good place to be retired and just relax after many years of work.
