Regional Audit Inspector

This is the Regional Audit Inspector’s office located over in Rang Puri. We are set up in Building Number 2, which we share with some other folks. Specifically, we are c/o Ajit Singh’s place. It is a busy part of New Delhi, right near the airport area, so there is always a lot of traffic noise outside. Inside, it is mostly quiet because we are busy looking through ledger books and digital files. We handle the audits for this whole region, which means a lot of checking and re-checking numbers. It isn't a glamorous job, but it has to be done to keep things straight. The office is a bit crowded with filing cabinets and stacks of papers that haven't been archived yet. We usually have tea around four in the afternoon to stay awake and get through the final hours. People come by with documents all day long. Sometimes they are frustrated with the rules, and we have to explain things slowly. The walls could use a new coat of paint, and the ceiling fan makes a bit of a clicking sound, but it gets the job done. It’s a standard government-style setup where we spend eight or nine hours a day just focusing on the details. We aren't trying to impress anyone with the decor; we just want to finish the day's work and go home to our families. It’s a steady routine that keeps the local administration running.
