Ramada

Living and working at Annpurna Bhavan in Mirzapur has its own rhythm. We’ve been here in Bundel Khandhi for quite some time, and the building has seen a lot of seasons. It’s a busy spot, especially with people coming through for different reasons. We aren’t really into those big city ways of doing things. Here, we just try to make sure everyone who walks through the doors feels okay. The walls are a bit thick and the hallways sometimes get a little echoey when it’s quiet at night. Ramada is just what we do every day. It involves a lot of walking back and forth, checking on things, and making sure the water is running right. U.P. summers can be tough, so we’re always fussing with the fans and windows. We’ve got a small team, mostly local folks who live just a few streets away. We don’t have those fancy manuals telling us how to talk to people. We just say hello and help out where it’s needed. Sometimes the internet acts up because of the weather, but we manage. Mirzapur isn’t a place for rushing, and we try to keep that same pace here. It’s about being steady. You won’t find anything too flashy, just honest work and people who have been around long enough to know the names of all the regular visitors. We are here most days and evenings if anyone needs us.
