You can find Ram Eashwar & Co down in Anand Parbat Gali No 5 Z-5. It is a bit of a maze getting here if you don’t know the area well. This part of the city is full of small workshops and factories, so there is always the sound of metal hitting metal or machines humming. Our shop is pretty much like the others around here. We deal with various industrial parts and supplies. It’s a dusty place and there’s usually some grease on the floor or the counters. We aren't wearing suits or sitting in air-conditioned rooms. We’re usually in old clothes ready to move heavy stuff around. My father started this and now I spend most of my time here dealing with the day-to-day work. We get a lot of workers coming in looking for specific tools or materials. Sometimes we have to order things from outside and wait for the delivery trucks to navigate the narrow lanes. It’s a lot of paperwork too, mostly just keeping track of the stock in ledgers. We don't have any big slogans or goals other than just getting the work done and closing up for the night. We eat our lunch right at the desk most days. It’s a gritty, honest way to make a living and we’ve been here for a long time now. We just do what we do and stay out of trouble. There is always something that needs fixing or moving around the shop floor.
