Our office is tucked away in a flat in New Delhi. It’s not one of those big glass buildings you see in the movies, just a regular place where we get the work done for Rajasthan Patrika. We’ve got desks pushed together and stacks of newspapers everywhere you look. Being in a flat means it feels a bit more like a home than a big company office. We make our tea in the small kitchen and sit around talking about the day’s news. The address we have is a bit vague on paper, just listed as a flat in New Delhi, but we’ve been here long enough that the postman knows exactly where to go. New Delhi is always noisy outside, but inside here it’s mostly just the sound of typing and people on the phone. We don't have a big sign outside or anything fancy like that. It’s just us working on the stories and getting the pages ready for print. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when a big story breaks, and everyone is talking at once, but mostly it’s just a steady grind. We don't really worry about the decor or having fancy furniture. As long as the computers work and we have enough light, we are good to go. It’s a bit cramped when everyone is in at the same time, but we make it work. It’s just a normal day-to-day life for us here in the city, trying to keep up with everything happening around India.
