Pastry & Bakery

If you come to Defence Colony, you can find us at B- 29 on the second floor. That’s where Pastry & Bakery is located. It’s a nice area of New Delhi, but being on the second floor means you have to walk up some stairs to find us. The smell of baking bread usually hits you before you even get to the door. We spend a lot of time with flour on our clothes and sugar on the counters. It’s a busy kitchen and we are always moving around. We have some ovens that stay hot for most of the day. The staff here is just a few people who like working with their hands. We don't have any polished marketing slogans or a corporate office. It’s just a place where we make food. We deal with suppliers bringing in bags of flour and crates of eggs every other morning. Sometimes the kitchen gets really hot, especially in the summer months, but we just keep going. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we are checking an order. Most of our day is spent at the workbench. It’s a simple life of measuring ingredients and watching the timers. We just make the pastries and hope people enjoy them when they take them home. It’s a small space but we’ve managed to fit everything we need to keep the ovens running every day.
