We operate out of C-25 in Om Vihar, which is part of the Uttam Nagar area. It’s a busy spot in New Delhi, and there is always something going on outside our door. We handle the back-office work for Indian Airlines, so there is always a lot of data to sort through. We aren't the ones flying the planes, obviously. We are the ones sitting in front of computers making sure the numbers and the records match up. It's a lot of typing and checking spreadsheets. The office is pretty basic, just a few rows of desks and some fans to keep the air moving. It gets pretty warm in the summer, but we just keep at it. We don't have a fancy reception area because we don't really get many visitors; we just have work to finish. Sometimes the phones don't stop ringing and other times it's quiet enough to hear the traffic on the main road. We’ve been doing this for a while, and we know the routine inside and out. It’s not the kind of job people write books about, but it’s important to keep things running smoothly for the airline. We just try to do our bit without making a big fuss. It’s a local operation, and most of us live nearby, so it’s a short commute. We like the rhythm of the work here. It’s steady and keeps us busy from morning until we head back home in the evening.
